HuntMaryland Privacy Policy

HuntMaryland ("the App") is a free informational app built for Maryland's outdoor community. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Location Data: The App requests access to your device's location to center the map on your position and show nearby public hunting lands. Location data is processed entirely on your device and is not transmitted to any server or third party. You can deny location access and still use all features of the App.

Locally Stored Preferences: The App stores your settings (such as disclaimer acceptance and filter preferences) on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device.

No Account Required: The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information to use its features.

Information We Do Not Collect

The App does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following: your name, email address, phone number, IP address, device identifiers, browsing history, usage analytics, or any other personally identifiable information.

Third-Party Services

Mapbox: The App uses Mapbox to display maps. Mapbox may collect anonymized usage data in accordance with their own privacy policy (mapbox.com/legal/privacy). No personally identifiable information is shared with Mapbox through the App.

No Advertising: The App does not display advertisements and does not share data with advertising networks.

No Analytics: The App does not use analytics services such as Google Analytics, Firebase, or similar tracking tools.

Data Sources

The hunting land data, regulations, and other information displayed in the App is sourced from publicly available Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) resources, Maryland iMap GIS data, and eRegulations.com. This data is bundled with the App and does not require an internet connection to access.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The App is an informational tool suitable for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Effective Date" above and in an updated version of this page.
